Snapshot
SnapshotCapture a disk's state at a point in time. Take a snapshot before sensitive changes such as software upgrades, then restore to that moment if something goes wrong.
- Create a snapshot
- Restore a disk snapshot
- Delete old snapshots
A Cloud Disk is a virtual disk created separately and attached to a server. Your data stays in place if you replace or delete the server.
Disk capacity can only increase; shrinking is not supported.
Manage disks from the panel without creating a new server for any of these operations.
Choose a name and size. New disks start at 25 GB.
Attach the disk to a server in the same project, then format and mount it from the operating system.
When space runs low, expand the existing disk up to 1024 GB and extend the filesystem in the operating system. Disks cannot be shrunk.
Detach the disk and optionally attach it to another server in the same project. A disk can only be deleted after detaching it.
Some deployment locations require stopping a server before attaching or detaching disks; the panel will tell you. A boot disk is created and deleted with its server and cannot be detached.
Cloud disks are created separately from servers. Data disks remain when a server is deleted or replaced.
Data remains until you delete the disk itself. Boot disks are deleted with the server, so keep important data on a data disk. Detached disks remain in the project and continue to be billed until deleted.
Attached data disks are detached, not deleted.
Data remains on the disk, which stays in the project's disk list.
Connect the same disk to the new server and continue with the same data.
Snapshots provide a quick return to a point in time; backups keep a separate copy. Create either from the panel whenever needed.

A copy separate from the disk for longer retention. Restore backup data to the same disk whenever necessary.
You can also take snapshots or backups of several disks together.
Both store data separately from servers. Disks attach to servers, while Object Storage provides access keys for different applications.
The main capabilities of Block storage at a glance.
Create and manage disks separately within a project.
Attach the disk to your chosen server in the same project.
Back up and snapshot disks so you can restore data whenever necessary.
Services commonly used alongside Block storage.
Virtual servers you create in the panel and pay for hourly
Back up your data so you can restore it after an error
Capture a disk's state before an important change
Data stored only on the server's own disk is at risk if the server fails or is deleted.
Block storage supports use cases such as Application data, Service files, Database files. The right choice depends on your project's technical and operational requirements.
Read the product guide and estimate costs in the calculator, then create the service in your chosen project in the client panel.
Register, estimate costs before provisioning and pay hourly for the time you use the service.
